Collins joins Stanton with POW honors

For the second week in a row the Saddleback football program has grabbed the headlines in the conference with a player winning the offensive player-of-the-week.  Wide receiver Dominic Collins was named offensive POW while quarterback Johnny Stanton grabbed all-purpose honors.

Collins and Stanton were both sensational, guiding the Gaucho offense to another big game.  The Saddleback duo connected on two touchdowns during the game as the offense totaled 509 yards on the night.

Collins finished with four catches for 102 yards and two scores, averaging 25.5 yards-per-catch.  He was part of a Gaucho offense that finished with 350 yards passing.  The sophomore from El Toro High School now has 15 receptions for 305 yards and three scores through four weeks.

Stanton stands on the podium for the second straight week after winning the award for all-purpose player-of-the-week.  He passed for 350 yards and two scores while leading the team in rushing for the second straight week.  The sophomore from Santa Margarita Catholic High School is now 85-for-133 for 1,022 yards passing and eight touchdowns for the year, also leading the team with 235 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Saddleback will travel to Santa Ana College on Saturday for a 6:00 PM game against the Dons.
