Lajoie is 8th Gaucho to commit

The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this past week as it announced an eighth member of the 2019 squad has made a commitment to a four-year university.  Third baseman Willie Lajoie has decided to continue his baseball career at Chico State, according to the baseball office.

Lajoie had a sensational two-year career at Saddleback, finishing his career with 103 hits, 19 doubles, six home runs and 87 RBI.  The 87 RBI ranks 9th all-time in Saddleback history while 103 hits ranks 26th.  Lajoie was named to the All-Orange Empire Conference Team and was an All-Region representative after his freshman campaign when he batted a team-leading .365 with a team-high 50 RBI.

Lajoie will continue his career at Chico State, located in Chico, California.  The Wildcats play an NCAA D2 schedule in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.  Chico State finished 28-21 overall in 2019 and 24-18 in the CCAA.
