Transfer list approaching all-time high

The Saddleback athletics department just completed another sensational year of competitive sports and with the success on the field comes recruitment from four-year universities.  Gaucho athletes are approaching $2.5-million in athletic scholarships for the year with a number of recruits still waiting to make decisions.

A total of 35 athletes have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at four-year universities with a handful more intending to walk on with programs.  The numbers should increase significantly in the coming months after four-year program assess their needs during the summer months.

Saddleback currently sits at an estimated $2.428-million in scholarships for the 2017-18 calendar year.  With baseball signings expected to increase dramatically after the MLB Draft in mid-June, it is expected that Saddleback athletes could approach the all-time high of scholarship awards of $2.928-million for the 2016-17 calendar year.

"It is a testament to how hard our coaches work to help their athletes continue both their academic and athletic goals," Saddleback Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics/Athletics Director Dan Clauss said.  "From the day they step on campus for the first time at Saddleback, our goal is to get the athletes prepared in every way possible to achieve their goals both on and off the field of play."

In addition to approaching all-time highs in scholarship monies, Saddleback also had a banner year in the classroom.  A total of 167 of Saddleback's 308 student-athletes achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher this past year, with a record 54% achieving the goal during the 2017 fall semester.  In addition, Saddleback had 26 different student-athletes achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA for fall semester.

Congrats Gauchos on another sensational year!
